The Southern Adirondack Beekeepers Association, located in eastern New York, promotes the interests of beekeepers, both hobbyists and commercial, with educational and social activities.

Counties served include Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington.

The objectives and purposes of SABA are to:

• Educate beekeepers about current trends in all aspects of beekeeping.
• Educate the public as to the use of bees for pollination of crops, and for their by-products (honey, wax and pollen).
• Maintain awareness of all state and national laws related to beekeeping and the production and marketing of honey and wax.
• Aid in the development of programs for young people desiring to become beekeepers.
• Present educational programs in schools and for the general public.
• Serve as a resource in the community for addressing problems and concerns about stinging insects.
• Foster interactions with the agricultural community and other beekeeping organizations.

Meetings:  SABA holds five regular meetings per year.  Meetings are held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, 50 West High St., Ballston Spa, NY.  Check the SABA event calendar for dates and times.

SABA members set up and staff an education exhibit for the Saratoga County Fair each summer.  Members maintain the exhibit during the fair and are encouraged to enter the honey and beeswax competitions.
