  Reminder:  Please bake/make something delicious to share after the meeting is over.  Items with honey in the recipe are especially appreciated!  Beverages provided.  Also, please bring back any books or videos you may have borrowed from the SABA library.  SABA members, guests, and those who are curious about beekeeping are welcome.

• March 27, 2010 - SABA 2010 Beekeeping Seminar
  PLEASE NOTE:  Due to the increasing popularity of the SABA seminars, it may become necessary to cut off registrations and not allow walk-ins.  Announcement will be made on this website.   Please register early to be sure of a seat.
  Guest Speakers & Topics:
  • Dr. Thomas Seeley, Cornell University:  "Getting Some Freebies:  The Design and Use of Bait Hives" and "The Flight Guidance Mechanisms of Honey Bee Swarms"
  • Allen Hayes, EAS Master Beekeeper from Maryland:  "Gadgets You Can Keep Bees Without... but Won't Want To" and "The NASA Honey Bee Net Scale Hive Project"
  • Blake Shook, Desert Creek Honey:  "How a Home-Schooled Teen Started His Own Bee Business" and "Products of the Hive - More Than Honey"
  Presentations run consecutively.  Raffles drawings begin at 4:45 PM.
  When:  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  Where:  UAlbany, 1400 Washington Ave., Lecture Center One (LC1, sub-level), Albany, NY (same place as in 2003-2009).  This is the Uptown Campus/Main Campus.  Refer to these campus maps:  UAlbany Map 1 and UAlbany Map 2, and to these written driving directions.
  Cost:  Pre-register by March 15 and save!  Fee is $40 per person (includes refreshment breaks).  Lunch is available nearby.  Registrations received after March 15 and walk-ins at the door (if space is available) cost $50 each.  Discount cost for CURRENT SABA members, $35.  CURRENT SABA members as walk-ins, $45 each.
  Friday Night Dinner:  For the past few years, SABA has arranged for an informal get-together dinner at a nearby restaurant the night before the seminar.  Speakers usually attend.  Pre-registration is required (mark your registration form and send deposit).
  Vendors:  Certain vendors will have sales booths, and orders placed in time will be delivered to the seminar (no shipping charge!).  Place orders by phone, not online.  Delivery is contingent upon available truck space, so place your orders early.
